Maiterra Terms and Community Rules
In short. Pick a name you would be happy for a stranger to read. Play to win, not to spoil the game for others. Report players who break these rules; we look at every report.
Break them and we may change your name, keep you out of ranked play, or ban you from online play. Offline play and Wi-Fi play are never affected.
Who these rules are between
Maiterra is made and run by an independent developer ("we"). These rules apply to everyone who plays Maiterra online: against other people over the internet, in public, friend or ranked matches, and on the leaderboard. Playing offline, against the computer or over Wi-Fi with people nearby, needs no agreement to anything.
The game asks you to agree to these rules before you first play online. If you do not agree, do not play online; everything else in the game still works.
Your name
Other players see your display name and its tag. Your name must not:
- insult, threaten or harass anyone, or target a group of people for who they are (for example their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity);
- be sexual, obscene, or refer to drugs or violence in a way meant to shock;
- pretend to be another player, a well-known person, or Maiterra and the people who run it (such as "Admin", "Moderator" or "Support");
- contain contact details, links, advertising, or anyone's personal information;
- be a near-copy of a name that breaks these rules, spelled with numbers, symbols or look-alike letters.
The game refuses some names automatically. A name it lets through can still break these rules.
How you play
- No cheating: no modified game, no tool that plays for you or reads what the game hides, and no exploiting a bug on purpose. If you find a bug, tell us.
- No boosting your rating: do not play against a second account of your own, and do not arrange results with another player.
- No griefing: do not join matches only to leave them, stall them or spoil them for others.
- No harassment through emotes, invites or friend requests.
- Do not attack, overload or try to get into our servers, or another player's account.
- One person, one account. Do not sell, share or take over accounts.
Reporting
You can report a player from their profile, from a match and from the leaderboard, and block them so you no longer see them. A report goes to us with both players' public IDs, the reason and the match. We read reports and aim to act on them within 48 hours. You can also write to support@maiterra.app.
Please only report what breaks these rules. Reporting someone again and again to get at them is itself against them.
What happens when the rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is and whether it has happened before, we may:
- change your name back to a plain one, and refuse the old name if you pick it again;
- keep you out of ranked play and off the leaderboard, or reset your rating;
- ban you from online play, for a time or for good.
Offline play, Wi-Fi play and anything you bought stay yours either way. If you think we got it wrong, write to support@maiterra.app with your display name and tag, and we will look again.
Purchases
Maiterra is free to play. The one optional purchase is sold through Google Play under Google Play's terms, and your device remembers it; Restore purchases brings it back on a new install.
The game itself
We work to keep the game and its servers running, but we cannot promise that online play is always available, and we may change or end online features. To the extent the law allows, the game is provided as it is. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer law of your country.
Children
Online play is for players aged 13 and over. The game asks for your year of birth and turns online play off for younger players.
Your data
What the game collects, why, and how to delete it is in the privacy policy.
Changes
When these rules change, the version at the top changes too, and the game asks you to agree to the new version before you next play online.
